Hometown Heroes Banner Program
In September 2017, City Council reinstated the Hometown Heroes Program, which honors active duty and active reservists living in Norwalk by flying a commemorative banner bearing their name along Imperial Highway for a period of one year.  Banners are free, and are presented to the honoree or his or her family at a City Council meeting after display. To apply, visit http://www.norwalk.org/hometown-heroes.

Wounded Warrior Parking
On Veterans Day, City Council cut the ribbon on the City’s first “Purple Parking” stall.  Wounded Warrior Parking recognizes the sacrifices of soldiers injured in the line of duty through the installation of a reserved parking space with easy access to facilities.  Look for these special marked stalls at City Hall, the Norwalk Social Services Center and the Norwalk Senior Center.

This program, offered in conjunction with the Southeast Area Animal Control Authority (SEAACA), provides pet adoption at no cost for active duty and veteran residents.  Adoption includes spay or neutering, micro-chipping and the first set of vaccinations.  The City is also including a complimentary six week obedience course at Petco to facilitate the bond between pet and owner. Adoptions must be made through SEAACA to be eligible. Licensing fees apply. Contact SEAACA at (562) 803-3301 for more info.
